V. Thomas Purcell, CLU®, ChFC®, Chief Executive Officer**

Tom Purcell serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Ashford Advisors. When he joined the firm in 1991 as a manager, he had a passion for helping others succeed, both through improved financial strategies for his clients and through recruiting and training other associates within the firm. In 1999, Tom was appointed as a General Agent.

Professionally, Tom holds the designations of Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) and Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®). He is an active member in the Atlanta chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and the General Agents and Managers Association (GAMA). Tom Purcell is also recognized as a member of the GAMA International Professional Development Faculty. He is part of the Field Leadership Series faculty, a group that leads workshops around the country based on the GAMA Foundation’s research of best practices in the industry.

As a leader in this industry, a successful businessman and entrepreneur, Tom is a passionate believer in helping others and started the Ashford Foundation, an organization whose goal is to support causes and allocate resources important to or affecting the families in our firm. For the past few years, the Ashford Foundation has been fortunate to support over twenty different charities each year.

Tom worked his way through college and earned a Business Degree from Georgia State University in 1988. He went on to work in the pharmaceutical industry. His recognitions and accomplishments include Rookie of the Year in sales, and promotions to District Manager and Area Manager.

Tom is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and currently lives in Sandy Springs. He and his wife, June, have been married for over 35 years. They are members of Dunwoody United Methodist Church. Tom is a member of Dunwoody Country Club, where he sits on the Membership Committee. He also is an active member of the Ravinia Club and serves on the Board of Governors. He is an avid golfer and a past tennis player. He and his wife have a grown daughter, Emily. Tom is known for his commitment to recruiting, his hands-on approach to leadership, as well as his undying loyalty to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Ashford Advisors received GAMA International’s International Management Award at the Diamond Level. The recipients of the year’s International Management Award were recognized at GAMA’s LAMP conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, last March and were also included in the July/August 2010 issue of the GAMA International Journal.
